Our style of yoga:
We offer integrative Hatha yoga, pulling what we feel is the best from several yoga traditions and movement therapy. During any given session we provide various adaptations to meet your body's needs, and you get to choose which feels right for you. In addition to postures (asana,) we explore the breath (pranayama,) guided meditation, and yogic philosophy. Each class involves a check-in which sets the intention for practice - sometimes we work strongly and other times we strive to nurture. You can look forward to diverse experiences from week to week: classes can be energizing, strong, restorative, or therapeutic. Our classes are shaped by a weekly theme in line with the season, current events, or the energy of the moment. All classes are thoughtfully crafted for a flowing experience and deep connection. For pre-registered classes we limit the number of students to allow for more individualized attention.
Why Yoga Momma?
Our primary focus is leveraging women and families’ health through the exploration of yoga. Teachers have extensive and diverse training in prenatal and postnatal yoga, reproductive health, menopausal support, kids yoga, and are all passionate about yoga! In addition, our programs are affordable and our open classes are available for drop-in anytime. As a small, mom run business we appreciate your support - we provide scholarships and work-study opportunities as often as we can.
Comments from past students:
“I've been taking the yoga for moms class for over a year now and I don't know how I functioned without it. I look forward to yoga every week as a time where I can focus inward and nurture myself. The class is a great mix of strong and relaxing postures and the class has a great atmosphere about it. I like that there's always some familiar poses and a little something different each week too.” - L.E. (mother of two)
“I wish I would have found your yoga class right after I had my first child! I look forward to it ever week and wish I could go everyday. It was my first yoga class. You and the whole class made me feel welcome and I did not feel out of place. I always leave feeling like I had a great workout, refreshed, relaxed and ready to face the world again. Thanks!” - L.V. (mother of two)
“My experience at the Yoga for Moms classes has been amazing! I feel so refreshed after each class and much more grounded (which is so important for us moms!). I'm so happy to have found something I can look forward to every week that is just for me!!” - R.A. (mother of two)
“Your class has changed my life!” -A.B. (mother of two)
“Having never really tried yoga before, Jen’s class made me feel immediately successful, despite my many limitations and lack of flexibility. She is a truly inspiring teacher ... don’t miss the opportunity to give her class a try.” - J.P. (mother of one)
“Jen was wonderfully engaging with my 3-year old. She got him interested in yoga by playing games, singing songs and telling stories. He had a great time and was very receptive to Jen's gentle guidance. It was a wonderful way to introduce him to yoga with such a warm and welcoming lesson.” -L.P (mother of one)
Yoga Momma’s Studio, the Phinney Yoga House was nominated for the Best Studio in Western Washington! Here is what some people are saying...
“Jen "Yoga Momma" creates an authentic, genuine experience of tranquility with other moms in the class and within oneself through listening to individual needs, compelling each mom to listen to herself without judgment and guiding the class through postures to bring the moms back into physical and emotional alignment.”
“Jen and Suzette are amazing teachers and the space is lovely.”
“Jen K makes everyone feel welcome at PYH. I was extremely nervous about doing yoga when I started as I didn't have much experience with it, but Jen immediately put me and everyone else in the room at ease. Her easy going demeanor plus her genius at developing a class for just mom's to give us what we need not only makes Jen our instructor but our friend and partner in motherhood. I can't say enough good things about her or the classes at PYH!”
